Headphone manufacturer Audeze and Audiokinetic, a global provider of cross-platform audio solutions for the interactive media and gaming industries, have announced their collaboration integrating Maxwell’s head tracking capabilities into Wwise.
This collaboration aims to advance spatial audio content creation possibilities for game developers by integrating Audeze’s Maxwell gaming headset with Audiokinetic’s Wwise audio pipeline. By leveraging the technology and expertise of the two companies, the collaboration exemplifies their commitment to driving innovation in different facets of gaming audio and delivering world-class tools to creators.
Sound designers and game developers using Wwise can now tap into the power of Audeze’s Maxwell headset, equipped with advanced head tracking technology, to achieve highly accurate 3D sound placement and enhanced spatial audio capabilities. This collaboration is set to transform how game audio is created and experienced, particularly for VR, where the Maxwell headset can emulate a VR headset, helping audio creators design in Wwise for VR games.
“We are excited to collaborate with Audiokinetic,” said Audeze CEO, Sankar Thiagasamudram. “Together, we’re delivering unmatched spatial audio solutions that empower game developers to craft richer, more dynamic audio experiences.”
With Maxwell’s integration into Wwise, developers can now take full advantage of the headset’s hardware-based, low-latency head tracking technology, providing spatial accuracy for creating immersive soundscapes in video games.
“At Audiokinetic, we’re excited to collaborate with Audeze, part of the Sony Interactive Entertainment family,” said Martin Dufour, CTO of Audiokinetic. “We’re unlocking new creative possibilities for developers, making it easier to implement vivid spatial audio that elevates player immersion.”
The collaboration mirrors the success of Audeze’s previous collaboration with Dolby, Applied Psychoacoustics Lab (APL) and EmbodyVR where Maxwell’s head tracking technology was integrated into the Dolby Atmos Renderer, APL’s Virtuoso V2 plugin and Immerse Studio for binaural audio rendering. Now, with Wwise, Maxwell continues to lead the way in spatial audio innovation, empowering developers to craft immersive and lifelike gaming experiences.
