Hammons Field upgrades to EAW Soundsystem

Hammons Field, home of the Springfield Cardinals, has modernised its audio system with Eastern Acoustic Works (EAW) loudspeakers, designed and installed by AVL integrator Paragon 360.

Hammons Field is a minor-league baseball stadium with a seated capacity of 6,750 and an additional 2,500 general admission spots. The venue serves as the Double-A affiliate of the St Louis Cardinals, as well as hosting the Missouri State University bears.

The new system features 14 EAW MKD1296 three-way full-range loudspeakers, run bi-amped for the main seating areas. EAW MKC80 and MKC120 2-way coaxial point source loudspeakers were used as fill speakers, placed throughout the upper decks and club spaces.

For the outdoors suite seating area, 18 MK80 speakers were used, and seven were used for the exclusive Coca-Cola Redbird Roost area. For the Coca-Cola Redbird Roost common area, six MKC120 speakers were used, and seven were used across the stadium entrances. All speakers were hung using the appropriate EAW U-Bracket.

The MKC series turned out to be the perfect complement to the MKD main speakers.

“The MKC series turned out to be the perfect complement to the MKD main speakers,” said Rich Nelms, account representative at Paragon 360. “Their compact size and overall sound quality make these speakers a tremendous value.”

The new audio system replaced the original Soundsystem that was installed when the stadium opened in 2004. The timeline for this project was short; the audio system was installed during the off-season, there being little time before the first pitch of 2025.

Nelms explained: “We had a very short timeline to complete this project, and EAW pulled off an absolute miracle to get the speakers in time for opening day.”
