Pro Sound Effects launches sound effects integration for Avid Media Composer

Sound effect provider Pro Sound Effects has announced the launch of its native panel integration for Avid Media Composer.

The new integration brings users access to the Pro Sound Effect library of over 1.2 million sounds, without leaving the Media Composer interface. Built using Avid’s Media Composer Panel SDK, this results in a faster, fully-licensed sound effects workflow from early temp edits through final picture lock.

The integration connects to Pro Sound Effects’ SoundQ desktop app, allowing users to browse, search and organise sounds from their internal SFX libraries on local, network or cloud storage (like Avid Nexis) and import them into Media Composer bins with metadata intact.

"Sound effects are integral to every media production project — they need to be quick and easy to access," said Bradford Swanson, head of product at Pro Sound Effects. "We're proud to be the first sound effects platform to offer this tight integration with Avid Media Composer.”

“It is great to see that Avid Media Composer editors have, for the first time, access from within the editor to a massive library of professional sound effects at their fingertips with the new Pro Sound Effects extension,” said Ray Thompson, senior director of worldwide partners and alliances at Avid. “Editors now can drive greater efficiency and have more creative flexibility by leveraging PSE in the editor, allowing them to stay creative with a deep sonic toolset covering categories from A to Z.”

The PSE panel for Avid Media Composer is currently available and is free to all Pro Sound Effects customers. It will also be available to demo at the Avid booth (North Hall – N2226) during the 2026 NAB Show.
