Taylor Swift’s The Life of a Showgirl becomes most streamed album of all time

Taylor Swift's new album The Life of a Showgirl has become the most-streamed album of all time in its first 24 hours on Amazon Music globally, breaking her own previous record set by The Tortured Poets Department.

To celebrate the album, Amazon Music has released a special track-by-track experience, which includes commentary from Swift interspersed throughout the record. She walks her fans through various themes and inspirations for The Life of a Showgirl, discussing how The Fate of Ophelia blends Shakespearean storytelling with modern themes and references.

For Elizabeth Taylor, Swift speaks about the Hollywood icon as a role model and draws parallels to her own experiences in the spotlight. Eldest Daughter explores the contrast between public and private life in modern culture. The album concludes with The Life of a Showgirl, featuring Sabrina Carpenter, which she describes as an ode to show business, mentioning that it includes actual crowd noise from her last Eras Tour show in Vancouver.

Amazon Music's track-by-track experience features insights from Swift about her song Father Figure, in which she reveals that the lyrics to this song were her favourite to write.

In an excerpt from her commentary, Swift said, “I remember writing the lyrics. It's the stuff that I've always wanted to say. The first line of the second verse is my favourite line in terms of a visual. You think about what it means, and then you realise it's just a very descriptive way to say something, and I love that line.”
