Warner Music Spain has signed an agreement with global energy company Repsol to help decarbonise the music industry in Spain.
Warner Music is the first record label in the country to use Repsol's wide range of multi-energy solutions to reduce CO2 emissions across much of its activity - including the recording, production, distribution, and promotion of songs and artists, as well as training the next generation of music executives.
WM Spain is exploring ways to lessen the environmental impact of its artists' tours. As part of this effort, they will be introducing renewable fuels for domestic travel in partnership with Repsol. These fuels offer the potential for considerable CO2 emissions savings compared to conventional fossil fuels, based on Repsol's internal analysis. WM Spain artist, Dani Fernández is set to be the first artist to utilise this renewable fuel source on tour for all of his transportation.
Repsol will also supply 100% renewable electricity to The Music Station, Warner Music Group’s creative hub in Madrid, and the music venue Gran Teatro CaixaBank Príncipe Pío, both of which are located in Madrid’s former Príncipe Pio North Station. Last year, the venue attracted almost 400,000 visitors for almost 500 performances and events.
In The Music Station’s outdoor plaza, Repsol has developed a solar-powered canopy with phone charging stations for concertgoers and visitors. The canopy is equipped with six 310W solar panels offering green charging to the community. Warner Music Spain employees and artists visiting The Music Station can also use Wible, a carsharing service co-owned by Kia and Repsol, featuring 650 plug-in hybrid vehicles with zero-emissions labels.
